PLANE TALKING PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR THE ASF

Plane Talking Products (PTP) is one of the first companies to sign a pledge of support to the Aviation Sustainability Forum (ASF). Offering both financial and manpower support, Plane Talking is committed to working hand in hand with the industry to drive the sustainable agenda forward. Alison Wells, co founder and director at PTP, has joined one of the ASF’s working groups as Head of the Marketing and Communications group. Alison said ‘As a product supplier we really see the value in the ASF  – in the past we may not have been party to what happens to our new products after we’ve delivered them– but now we are asking that question and wanting to help with the answer. I reconnected with long term friend and colleague Mike Pooley (ex Gate Group now an independent consultant) during the pandemic and … Continue reading

AVIATION SUSTAINABILITY FORUM

Our MD Alison has recently taken up a voluntary position with the ASF as their lead on Marketing and Comms. The ASF is a ‘not for profits’ collaborative partnership of competing stakeholders from across the aviation sector who have joined forces to build a more sustainable future for onboard service. Through research projects, collaborations and partnerships the ASF will drive change in onboard products and services to help our sector meet Netzero targets. Their work will inform and influence both inflight service and waste management processes in the future. A recent research paper is available now on their website. www.aviationsustainabilityforum.com Alison said ‘When I first heard about the work of the ASF I wanted to know how we could support. As a product supplier, we always tend to work directly with our airline clients on product development and don’t necessarily know what … Continue reading

LOCAL COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Our MD Alison recently visited local secondary school, Wildern to run activities as part of their work skills day. The students were tasked with developing a product for young children to use in flight – to a budget and a timeline but they only heard the full brief if they asked their buyer the right questions! Alison commented ‘I was really impressed with the way the teams worked together to come up with some great new product ideas! I think it’s really important to talk to young people about the reality of running a business in these challenging times. They had lots to think about in this project but they coped really well and I hope it gave them some food for thought about how products, that we probably take for granted, come into being.”

AID TO UKRAINE

Plane Talking and sister company PTP Healthcare, along with the support of other local Winchester businesses, recently despatched a van full of hygiene packs, PPE and hand sanitiser to the Polish / Ukraine border. The emotional trip took 5 days and took in a number of stops to hand out product to the people in need. Director John Caulcutt said “Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen – it really made a difference to the people we were able to help. We plan to make another trip shortly and are looking for donations from our friends in aviation of unused blankets and airline socks. Please contact us if you can help”

WHY HOSPITALITY IS KEY TO REBUILDING PASSENGER CONFIDENCE

Shop, cook, eat repeat…. the never ending cycle of lockdown dinners at home. I, for one, was super pleased when restaurants opened up and I could let someone else do the washing up. Hospitality has never been more essential! Last year, I participated in the WTCE Taste of Travel webinar on ‘Why Onboard Hospitality is Key to Rebuilding Passenger Confidence’. It was really interesting to hear from Tom Szwed of Black Swan Data that social media is telling us that passengers are wishing & hoping for a return to full onboard service as soon as possible. Not only that, but Business Class travellers see this as a key part of the service and a real driver to encouraging them back on board. Over the past eighteen months, air travel has been a ‘sanitised’ experience – fewer interactions, less product, reduced … Continue reading
