Sustainability is at the forefront of everything we do at PTP. From designing products with recyclability in mind, to limiting the use of virgin material, we are constantly researching ways to reduce the environmental impact of our travel products. By making those responsible choices, we can deliver real results that lower the impact that we, and our partners, are having on the planet. To empower our decision-making process, we consider a whole life cycle perspective of our products, from production to distribution. By conducting these Life Cycle Analyses (LCAs), we are taking our next step on our sustainability journey.

What are LCAs?

LCAs are systematic analyses of the environmental impacts of a product or process, quantifying energy, waste, material usage, and process impacts during each stage of a product’s life cycle. A whole range of impacts can be analysed during an LCA, to obtain a throughout understanding of the whole environment footprint of a product’s lifetime. For example, a product may contribute little to global climate change but consume excessive amounts of water that is unsustainable in countries that suffer from frequent water shortages. Alternatively, a product may have lower water usage at the cost of large emissions of greenhouse gases. This may mean reduced local effects, but a greater global impact.

Why do we use LCAs?

We have been making more sustainable choices for years, but as science and sustainable technologies have developed, there are greater opportunities for change. Sustainable innovation is one of our core values, and we are always looking to take advantage of new, ground-breaking methodologies and programmes. LCAs are more than just data gathering, they are intelligent tools that strengthen our decision-making process, allowing us to drive measurable change and create bespoke solutions for our clients.
